     Bill and Esther VanGorder operate MRC Associates, a firm that assists charities and nonprofit groups in the areas of hiring staff, recruiting volunteers, team building strategic planning andBoard and volunteer development. MRC Associates offers a broad base of services to charities and not-for-profit organizations, trade associations and educational institutions.

     A unique side of our service are the presentations, talks and speeches to conferences, dinner meetings, convention banquets, and staff and volunteer training sessions. Bill and Esther are also professional magicians and psychic entertainers. (Members of the Psychic Entertainers Association, Society of American Magicians and the International Brotherhood of Magicians.)

Who is Bill VanGorder?

              Bill VanGorder, Manager of Business Development, HiringSmart Canada is an experienced speaker and trainer who has acted as a consultant to businesses and associations since 1968.  Bill gives keynotes, presentations and workshops to 30 or more organizations each year.

             From 1991 to 2007, Bill was the President and CEO of The Lung Association of Nova Scotia. He also served as Vice-President of Financial Development and Marketing for the Canadian Lung Association. Prior to that he spent 28 years with the YMCA, for the final 12 years as the Atlantic Area Director for the YMCA where he focused primarily on consulting and training of YMCAs and YM-YWCAs in the four Atlantic Provinces.

            After using the HiringSmart Process for six years, Bill joined HiringSmart in December 2007.  “Bill’s experience and expertise in employee recruitment, selection and retention and his knowledge of the community from his 15 years as CEO of the Lung Association of Nova Scotia makes him the ideal person to carry the HiringSmart message,” says Tim Brennan, Chief Visionary Officer of HiringSmart.

            He is one of a very few professionals in Canada who is both a Certified Association Executive (CAE) awarded by the Canadian Society of Association Executives (CSAE) Certified and a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) awarded by the international Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP).

           Bill lives in Halifax with his wife, Esther, and Kelsey, the cat that runs their house.
